There are two browser-based, interactive tutorials that are quite effective at introducing you to the basics of Git: Try Git and Git Rocks.
For this optional experience, try one or both of these sites to get more comfortable with Git.
Since this is optional, you do not have to submit anything. However, I recommend you play around with at least one of these sites to become more comfortable with git.
